What to bring

What to bring

Every property is furnished, but there are some essentials you’ll want to pack to make your room feel like home. Bedroom: bedding, pillows, hangers, desk lamp, and extension leads. Kitchen: plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs, pots, pans, chopping board, knives, and tea towels. Bathroom: towels, toiletries, and some toilet roll for moving day. Extras that help: laundry basket, small tool kit, reusable water bottle, and a few personal touches like photos or fairy lights. Packing smartly makes settling in smoother and helps you start enjoying student life straight away.

Top tips from HudLets

Top tips from HudLets

• Pack a “first night” bag with bedding, snacks, and toiletries — you’ll thank yourself later.

• Take photos and note any existing damage on day one to avoid disputes later.

• Coordinate with housemates before buying kitchen items so you don’t end up with duplicates.

• Label your food in shared kitchens to avoid confusion.

• Give yourself time to settle in — it’s normal for the first week or two to feel strange.

Life on campus

HudLets isn’t just about accommodation — it’s about being part of your student community. Being part of the Students’ Union means you can get involved in everything from societies and sports teams to arts, culture, and Networking. There are loads of events and socials throughout the year to meet new people and discover hobbies. If you want to stay active, Active Hud runs sports sessions, fitness classes, and tournaments. And if you ever need guidance, the SU Advice Centre is there to help with housing, money, or any other student issues. You’re never on your own — there’s always someone to support you.
